Drawing on an experiential learning model, the curriculum uses a range of small and large group activities to allow for active participation, discussion, and reflection, in combination with short lectures, informative handouts, and web-based resources. Download the curriculum here.

TALKING WITH KIDS ABOUT HIV / AIDS

The Talking with Kids about HIV/AIDS project was developed by Cornell University in 1989 as a prevention education resource for parents and guardians. Parents and guardians are often the primary health educators of children and teens, but sometimes need support to feel comfortable and confident communicating about HIV-related issues.

The project works to support parents, guardians and other adults to communicate accurate HIV-related information to children and teens in sensitive, age-appropriate, and developmentally appropriate ways. The goal of the project is to help save lives by reducing new HIV infections among young people. Click here to learn more about this project.

JUNTOS

4-H Juntos was launched in New York City in September 2015 to empower more Hispanic youth to succeed in high school, graduate on time and go to college. Juntos – pronounced “Who-n-toes” – means “together” in Spanish and the Juntos program works to unite community partners to provide youth, particularly Latino youth, studying in grades 8 through 12 and their parents with knowledge, skills and resources so that youth are discouraged from dropping out of school.

IMG_8998The program also encourages the families of these youth to work together to gain access to college. The multifaceted partnerships such as those among New York Life Insurance Company, CUCE-NYC, 4-H, schools, colleges, volunteers and community agencies are what make the 4-H Juntos program a sustainable success in many communities across the US.
