What a perfect day for a Poetry Reading!!  New York City K-12 students gathered under a blue sky amidst budding flowers in Bryant Park for the 9th Annual Poem In Your Pocket Day (PIYP.)  Music and poetry filled the Bryant Park Reading Room from 11:00 – 2:30 with remarks by Kate Levin (Commissioner, NYC Cultural Affairs) and Dennis Walcott (Chancellor, NYC Department of Education.)  All participants received a copy of this year’s Cornell M.F.A. student’s Poetry in Your Pocket chapbook, as did every student at Food & Finance High School (a Cornell partner school) and NYC 4-H leaders.
Cornell University has participated in PIYP Day since 2007.
