Sustainability at Cornell – Poster Exhibit & Competition

On October 29, 2010, one day following its historic endowment, the David R. Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future hosted the Sustainability Committee of the Cornell Council for a poster exhibit and competition (pamphlet).

  • Frank DiSalvo (ACSF Director) and David Picket (Chair of the Sustainability Committee)  spoke on “The State of Sustainability at Cornell”
  • Various campus sustainability groups presented exhibits of their work, and
  • 23 ACSF-funded programs and activities participated in a poster competition

Poster Competition Winners:

First Place - $5,000: "A Systems Research Approach to Regional Energy Transitions: The Case of Marcellus Shale Gas Development" (Professors Al George & Terry Jordan)

First Place - $5,000: "A Systems Research Approach to Regional Energy Transitions: The Case of Marcellus Shale Gas Development" (Professors Al George and Terry Jordan with Frank DiSalvo)

Second Place - $3,000 - "Thousandfold Improvement in Solar Photobioreactors Using Advanced Photonics

Second Place - $3,000 - "Thousandfold Improvement in Solar Photobioreactors Using Advanced Photonics (Professors Lars Angenent and David Erickson with their colleagues and Frank DiSalvo)

Third Place - $1,000 - "A Water System on the Brink: Neapolis, Crete"

Third Place - $1,000 - "A Water System on the Brink: Neapolis, Crete" (Professors Gail Holst-Warhaft and Tammo Steenhuis with their colleagues and Frank DiSalvo)
