Winter Malting Barley Harvest is Upon Us!

Winter malting barley harvest has begun!  A field in Genesee County was started yesterday and it was around 13% moisture.  That’s lower than I expected.  This is concerning because we have some possible rain in the forecast over the next two days.   Please make sure everything is lined up to be ready to harvest over the next week.  We want to do everything we can to avoid any pre-germination.

Spring malting barley is looking good and I have reports of fungicide applications at flowering were applied late last week in Ontario County.

We’re in the home stretch folks … hang in there!!!
