Labor Unions and Health Care

According to the latest Union Members in 2008 news release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 10.5% of those employed in healthcare support occupations are represented by a labor union.  See Table 3. Union affiliation of employed wage and salary workers by occupation and industry.  A source that you might not think of for information about nursing and other health care-related labor unions is CINAHL (Cumulative index to nursing and allied health literature), which provides indexing for 2,913 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health.  Cornell University Library has subscription access to the CINAHL database through EBSCOHost.  Of course, we have many other sources for information about healthcare-related labor unions, so ask us for help!
