Hey Eli,

I spent both Thanksgiving and Christmas over in Europe. The Americans had their own Thanksgiving dinner over there in one of the apartments, it was a bit of a challenge findind a turkey, but it worked out really well. Christmas break I traveled, I went to Italy, France and some other cities in Spain with a friend. We did some really cool things. We went to Midnight Mass in the Vatican and were under the Eiffel Tower for New Years.

As far as insurance goes, I think I used my parents. Their's met all the qualifications and I just had to get a letter from them stating a few things. I think Cornell also offers their insurance that will work over there, but I think it's rather expensive. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hey Eli,

I did not end up doing the internship there, there was only one guy that did it the summer after our year there and a girl that did it the summer before. You should contact Professor Cowen about their contact information so you can ask them. The internships are in spanish though and throughout the year my spanish improved greatly, even without the internship. I did both spanish classes over the summer, which I recommend, even if you are just there to enjoy the beaches at their prime time and get easy credit for a liberals studies class. One thing that I think really helped was that I did an exchange with one of the spanish students in my classes. We would speak in spanish some days and english other days. I think I learned the most from that, and we got to learn about eachother's cultures at the same time. Hope that helps!

Hi, sounds like you had a great time. Where did you spend the holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas? Did you take advantage of the internship that was available? What did you do about medical insurance?

Ciao,

Hi Megan,

What an impressive description of your stay in Europe. You should be hired as a marketing representative. I understand that you were also offered an internship with a Spanish firm after you studies there, can you tell me if you did that and if so, how was it? Was the internship in Spanish? How much did your Spanish improve? How long was the internship, with which company and where was the internship?
Thanks much. Eli

Megan - You look like you're having a wonderful experience, and you're lucky that Cornell supports its students to study abroad. Others reading your blog can also find numerous Spanish study abroad programs available, even if they don't have a full semester. Anyone wanting to try living in Spain should go for it! Tim
