Beef Meeting, Feb. 20 in Delaware County

CCE Delaware is holding a Winter Beef Meeting on Thursday, February 20 at 6pm at the Community Center in Hobart, NY. Topics and speakers include:

• Winter Time Environmental Effects on Beef Feed Demand, Paul Cerosaletti & Rich Toebe, CCE Delaware County. Paul will demonstrate how much environmental effects such as wind, temperature, mud, and hair coat condition can increase the amount of hay a beef animal needs to eat. Rich will show some of the strategies farmers can use to reduce these environmental effects.
• Observations from a State Veterinarian—Current Topics in the Beef Industry, Dr. Chad Wall, DVM NYS Department of Ag & Markets
1. Beef Nutrition—Additional thoughts on feeding strategies and potential cost savings
2. Working with a Veterinarian—What can a veterinarian do for my beef operation? What does it mean for my bottom line?
3. Vaccination Strategies, Drug Residue Avoidance, and Pregnancy Exams—Some facts and strategies from the point of view of your vet
