Can I borrow a laptop for an extended period of time?
I was wondering about the laptop loan policies. I see it says that you can borrow it for four hours at a time. My current laptop’s screen broke and I have a job interview and was wondering if there was any possible way around the loan limit or if an exception could be made. I would need a laptop (just for internet and Microsoft Office use) for about 5 days. Do you think there is any possible way to do this? If this cannot be done at the Engineering Library do you know of any other libraries or departments on campus that may allow me to do something like this?
Thank you for your inquiry.
I am afraid that our laptop loan procedures are quite firm and that we cannot extend the loan periods for any reason. If you need laptop for an extended — but temporary — period of time, I would recommend you inquire at the Cornell Store about their laptop rental service. You can find the details about it on their website:

Please let us know if you require additional information.

There’s a new special program this summer in Uris library which allows users to borrow a laptop overnight! Just for the summer though. Enjoy!
