Looking for English Translation of French Book
Dear reference librarian,
I am trying to find out if this book has been translated into English. I have tried the CU catalog, Amazon, Wikipedia and Google. I’m wondering if you have an easier way of finding an English translation (if there is one). Here is the French title:
Certeau, Michel de. La Révolution française et les patois: l’enquête de Grégoire. Gallimard. 1975.
I appreciate your help (but I understand if it’s not something you can help me with).
This is the type of question we are happy to work on. However, I have not yet been able to locate a translation of the title you need.
To supplement the searching you have already done, I checked a database called “WorldCat” which lists holdings of hundreds of libraries, including many major research libraries. Several of his other titles are translated, but I found no English language version of the title you cited. I also searched a catalog called “COPAC” which is provided by CURL, a consortium of research libraries in the British Isles, and the catalogs provided by the Biblioitheque Nationale, to no avail. “Index Translationum,” which is produced by Unesco to help track book translations, did not list the title we need in English, either.
I will continue to check, and will let you know if I find any additional information. But I wanted to get back to you today to let you know we are working on your question.
Best regards,
Olin Reference
