Where can I get citation records for my published papers?
I published several papers on different jounals. Now, I want to know the citation of my papers. Where can I get all the citation records? I know there is a database, Science Citation Index, but I cannot find it online.
Congratulations on becoming well published! We’d be happy to assist you with searching for your citations; the Science Citation Index is a good place to begin.
You can connect to this database through the following steps:
- Open the Library Gateway http://www.library.cornell.edu/
- Click on Find Databases
- Type into the search box: science citation index
- Click on either of the resulting title links — they will both take you into the “Web of Science” which includes the Science Citation Index.
If I understand your question correctly, you’d like to find out if your articles have been cited in other papers, by other authors. To do this, you need to click on the tab labeled “cited ref search” Here is the link to the Help page on cited reference searching: http://images.newisiknowledge.com/help/WOS/hcr_search.html#hcr_search. We often find that performing a cited reference search can be a bit confusing — the citations can be cryptic and works of authors with the same last name and first initial can become intermixed. However, it’s a very powerful database that indexes thousands of journals, so it is well worth the effort.
I encourage you to stop by the reference desk in Mann Library if you encounter any problems or have any questions. The staff may also have suggestions for additional resources for citation searching, depending upon your field.
I hope this information is helpful. Please don’t hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards,
Nancy — Olin Library
