Food Evolution: Meet Our Panel of Experts

In the GMO (genetically modified organism) debate, both pro and anti camps claim science is on their side. Who’s right? Do you have questions about genetically modified foods? Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County for a film screening and panel discussion of FOOD EVOLUTION, a documentary from Academy Award nominee Scott Hamilton Kennedy, narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Get your questions answered Thursday, June 21st at Tamarac Middle / High School Auditorium (3992 NY-2, Troy, NY 12180). Doors open at 5:30 PM, movie starts at 6.

Stick around after the film for a discussion with our panel of experts: Dr. Margaret Smith, Cornell University professor specializing in corn breeding without the use of genetic engineering; Aaron Gabriel, Soils and Field Crops Educator with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Capital Area Agriculture and Horticulture Program (CAAHP); Larry Eckhardt, owner and operator of Kinderhook Creek Farm, a diversified vegetable/cash crop/beef cattle operation; Zack Metzger, co-owner of Laughing Earth, a local farm offering a vegetable CSA, pastured poultry and pork, and more; and Laura McDermott (moderator), Small Fruit and Vegetable Specialist with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program (ENYCHP).
