As winter starts to give way to spring in Ithaca, several of Cornell’s winter athletic teams are still going strong:
Cornell Women’s Ice Hockey downed Harvard 2-1 to clinch its third ECAC title in four years. Up next for the Big Red skaters, ranked #2 nationally, the NCAA quarterfinals.
Cornell’s Wrestling team made history by winning its seventh straight EIWA title, qualifying seven wrestlers for the NCAA tournament in Des Moines.
The Big Red Men’s Ice Hockey team is heading to Connecticut this weekend to play Quinnipiac in the ECAC Hockey Championship quarterfinals.
Two Cornell Fencers have been selected to participate in the 2013 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships in San Antonio, TX.
As we look to spring, many Cornell teams are off to a strong start:
The Men’s Tennis team, ranked #23 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, is coming off of a recent win at the ECAC Men’s Indoor Tennis Championships.
Big Red Women’s Lacrosse, ranked #14 nationally, is off to a 5-0 start including a win this past weekend over Ivy rival, Columbia.
The nationally-ranked #2 Men’s Lacrosse team is coming off of a big win over the University of Virginia and is also off to a 5-0 start.
The Women’s Tennis team is off to a 7-0 spring start, and will attempt to go 8-0 this weekend – which would be a first since the program started in 1973.
