Regular Decision Deadline – 11:59 p.m. or 12:00 a.m.?

When I received this emailed question yesterday, my first thought was: “well, technically…” then I stopped typing my answer. If you have enough time to worry about the answer, search out my email address, and send a note, then shouldn’t you have enough time to work on your application now? There are so many benefits to submitting your application this week and so many things that can go wrong if you wait until the last minute on January 2, 2012.

If you submit your application this week you have the advantage of contacting our office if you need assistance. Our office is closed from 12/24-1/2 and we will not be available to answer your immediate questions or help you problem solve if you hit a snag. And trust me, we have had some interesting snags in past years – snow storms, power outages, and internet interruptions are all par for the course on decision deadlines. Rest assured, we will work with students on a case by case basis, however, why experience that added stress?

I’m sure you’ve heard this all before from your counselors and parents, but hey, they’re right. Don’t wait until the clock strikes midnight, hit submit now!

  1. Sean, please make every effort to have all of your materials submitted by the deadline. January scores will be added to your application materials, however, you application could be reviewed before they are received.

  2. When i went to the undergrad admissions website and saw “12/16: Regular Decision deadline” under news, I thought I had missed the deadline!
I think that should be changed somehow.

  3. Question:
If I have my application submitted before the deadline, but the transcript is after the deadline; would it be OK? Also, what if I take another SAT test on Jan 2012, would it be too late?
