NE Region Adapt-N Users:

We have made a minor Adapt-N update that will generally have minimal impacts, but may change some simulation results slightly. This is for your information, and in most cases does not impact your use of Adapt-N.

We made an upgrade to the rooting defaults for individual soil series in the Northeast region. We now use rooting defaults derived from NRCS soil series descriptions for each individual soil series (as opposed to a representative soil for the textural group). User locations in the NE where the default value was selected as the rooting depth will be automatically updated with the new defaults. Please note that for those locations you may re-run the model, or evaluate changes in the updated daily alerts.

This is less critical in the Midwest states since these soils generally show less variability in rooting depth based on the NRCS soil series descriptions. Please note that these NRCS-estimated rooting depths are guidelines only. Users may adjust these depths (using the pull-down rooting depth list) based on their knowledge of a particular location, e.g., depth to a hard-pan that restricts rooting.

Thanks.
